1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the website function properly, remember your preferences, and provide information to the site owners. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and web beacons. This policy covers all such technologies used by Selfward.
2. How We Use Cookies
Selfward uses only essential cookies that are strictly necessary for the Service to function. We do not use any advertising, marketing, or cross-site tracking cookies.
3. Cookies We Use

These cookies are required for the Service to work and cannot be disabled.

4. Local Storage & Session Storage
In addition to cookies, we use browser local storage and session storage for the following purposes:
- Assessment progress: Your in-progress assessment state is saved locally so you can resume if you navigate away or refresh the page
- Theme/display preferences: Your chosen theme (light/serene/focus) is stored locally
- Cookie consent status: Your consent preference is stored in local storage
- Dismissed banners: Tracks which informational banners you have dismissed so they are not shown again
5. Third-Party Cookies
Some of our third-party service providers may set their own cookies when you interact with their services through our platform:
- Google: If you sign in with Google, Google may set cookies related to authentication. These cookies are governed by Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
We do not control third-party cookies. Please refer to the respective third-party privacy policies for more information.
6. How to Manage Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View what cookies are stored and delete individual cookies
- Block all cookies or only third-party cookies
- Configure cookie preferences per website
- Set your browser to notify you when a cookie is being set
Please note: If you block essential cookies, some features of the Service may not function properly (e.g., you may not be able to log in or save your assessment progress).
For instructions on managing cookies in your browser, visit: Chrome (chrome://settings/cookies), Firefox (about:preferences#privacy), Safari (Preferences > Privacy), Edge (edge://settings/privacy).
7. Do Not Track
We respect Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals. Since we only use essential cookies and do not engage in any cross-site tracking, our behavior is the same regardless of your DNT setting.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. For material changes, we will provide notice through the Service.
